Water/air-cooled type - mechanical phenomenon

The exhaust gas is displayed at high temperature regardless of whether the device is turned on or off, and resets the fault if it is not turned on. The panel still shows high exhaust temperatures. The cause of the failure should be the temperature sensor and the control board.

Troubleshoot the cause


It is better to measure the resistance of the temperature sensor with a multimeter to be around 100 ohms.

If the short circuit and open circuit indicate that the sensor is damaged; 2. If the temperature sensor is normal, the control board is generally damaged.



Water-cooled machine type - mechanical phenomenon

After the power is turned on, the temperature changes and gradually rises to 100 °C to jump. It is judged whether the oil path is faulty or the waterway is faulty according to the length of the temperature rise time.

The temperature rise time is fast, generally the oil circuit fault; 2. The temperature rise time is slow, generally the water circuit fault.


Oil circuit failure

1. Oil filter blockage leads to a decrease in the amount of lubricant, which is getting faster and faster with time. Remedy: Regular maintenance and replacement of the oil filter.

2. Insufficient oil in the oil and gas barrels leads to a decrease in the amount of lubricating oil and a high temperature trip. Remedy: Refuel to the upper limit.


3. Insufficient heat control valve opening causes high temperature exhaust failure. Old machines that generally occur in more than 4 years. Remedy: Replace the new thermal control spool.

4. The oil is gelled or carbonized, resulting in high exhaust gas. Treatment measures: system cleaning, replacement of air filter, oil filter, oil fine. After the pipelines such as oil and gas drums and coolers are cleaned, they are cleaned with running oil.


5. The oil pressure is too low, resulting in a slow flow rate of oil. The heat removal rate is reduced, resulting in high exhaust gas.

Remedy: Check the intake air volume is too small (intake valve opening and restrictor) and the amount of bleed is too large (bleed volume control valve and piping).


6. The internal wear of the body causes the exhaust to heat up. Treatment: This fault is usually accompanied by abnormal sound and vibration of the body. Please check the maintenance cycle of the machine and the maintenance of the operating environment.



Waterway failure

1. Low water pressure causes high exhaust gas. Handling measures: Please increase the water pressure according to the instructions. Generally 0.25-0.4MPA is suitable.

2. The high water temperature causes the exhaust gas to be hot. Treatment measures: Please reduce the water temperature according to the requirements of the air compressor manual. Generally controlled between 10-35 degrees.

3. Insufficient water volume results in high exhaust temperatures. Disposal measures: According to the instructions of the air compressor, avoid the reduction and throttling on the pipeline.


4. The particles in the water block the cooler, resulting in a small amount of cooling water and high temperature. Remedy: Install a Y-type filter on the pipeline and clean the filter regularly.

 5. The oil cooler is fouled, resulting in poor heat transfer. The machine is exhausted at high temperatures. Treatment measures: Clean the cooler and wash it with scale cleaning solution. It can also be cleaned with steel brazing.

Wind path failure

1. The ambient temperature is too high, causing the wind entering the radiator to be insufficient to cool the lubricant. This allows the machine to vent high temperatures. Treatment measures: air compressor room ventilation treatment, so that the ambient temperature is maintained within the range of 5-35 degrees.

2. The radiator is clogged, causing the cooling air to fail to pass through the fins. The lubricant cannot cool the main unit, causing the exhaust to heat up. Treatment measures: repeatedly purify the air with no oil, no water, less than 0.2MPA. The effect achieved is that looking up from the bottom of the radiator, the object above can be seen through each fin.



3. The front filter is clogged, causing cold air to enter the machine and causing the machine to vent high temperatures. Remedy: Clean or replace the pre-filter.

4. The cooling fan is turned incorrectly or not turned, resulting in failure to cool the oil and the machine is venting at a high temperature. Remedy: If the steering is wrong, the fan wiring is adjusted to make the direction correct. If not, check the power supply, contactor, fan, thermal protector and other components.

5. Glue or carbon deposit inside the radiator, resulting in a smaller cooling area of the oil passage. Allow the air compressor to vent high temperatures. Treatment: Wash with cleaning oil, if the fault persists. The radiator can be removed and cleaned with high temperature steam or acetone. If it is not enough, you need to replace it with new ones.



6. Air filter blockage results in high exhaust gas (this fault is rare). Remedy: Replace with a new air filter element.

The high temperature failure of the air compressor exhaust can not be underestimated, directly affecting the operating cost and safety of the air compressor. When the temperature is high, the service life of the oil will be short, the oil content of the air will increase, the power consumption will increase, and the gas production will become smaller. If there is a fault, it needs to be resolved as soon as possible. In this way, the service life of the air compressor can be effectively extended and safe production can be achieved.
