Advantage Analysis Of Two-stage Screw Air Compressor

Advantages of two-stage screw air compressor

Based on the relevant theory and actual use, the advantages of the two-stage screw air compressor compared to the twin-screw air compressor are analyzed.

1. Staged compression to save compression work

The two-stage screw air compressor passes through a two-stage series process, so that the original single-stage compression process is divided into two compression processes. Such a process arrangement can reduce the compression ratio of each single-stage compression process, and thus can effectively greatly reduce the resistance of each stage of the screw during the meshing and compression process. The reduction in work resistance during compression means that the load on each stage of the bearing is reduced, which reduces the drive power required for each stage of compression.

In the ideal gas compression process, the power required for single-stage compression is equal to the sum of the power required for multi-stage compression. However, in the actual compression process, a series of factors such as the coupling power transmission loss, the bearing friction coefficient and the viscosity of the coolant increase as the applied force increases, resulting in useless work exceeding the same ratio. Therefore, by reducing the compression ratio of each stage, the useless work in the actual compression process can be reduced, so that the sum of the power required for the multi-stage compression is smaller than the power required for the single-stage compression.
